 市庁舎450周年を記念して週一度見学会が開催されているので参加しました。アントワープ駅舎にある「ロイヤル・カフェ」です。ここでランチを食べて市庁舎まで歩きます。
We joined the observation which was held once a week to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the city hall. It's "Royal Cafe" in Antwerp station bulding. We had a lunch here and were going to walk to the city hall. |

 今日は地下から上階のテラスまで見せてもらえるそうです。
まずは地階。以前は貴重な書類などを保管していた分厚い扉の部屋。
I heard we could see from the basement to terrace of floor upstairs. Firstly it was a basement. It was a room with thick door which had kept precious documents before.

 参加人数は17人、皆さんオランダ語と英語を話されます。私達二人のために「英語ツアー」になりました。
The number of participants were 17 people and everybody spoke Dutch and English. This observation became "English Tour" for two of us. |

 アントワープをV-1爆弾から救ったアメリカ陸軍中将チャールス・サスマンの胸像。1945年初めに彼のチームはアントワープに向かう10発のV-1の内6発を打ち落とすことに成功しました。戦争末期の対V-1戦闘では成功率90%に到達する記録を残しています。V-1は巡航ミサイルの前身の初期のパルスジェットを推力とした飛行爆弾です。
The bust of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Sussman, United states army, who saved Antwerp from V1-bomb. His team managed to shoot down six out of every 10 V-1s on their way to Antwerp in early 1945. By the end of the V-bomb campaign, the team was achieving a success rate of over 90%. The V-1 flying bomb was an early pulsejet-powered predecessor of the cruise missile. |

 実はオリンピックの五輪マーク、アントワープオリンピックから使われているそうです。これは当時使われていた旗です。ここで2時間のツアーが終了。楽しかったです。
To tell the truth, the five-ring Olympic emblem was used for the first time in Antwerp Olympic. It's the end of 2hours guided tour. That was fun. |
