The cathedral was completed in 1882, however, the paintings were fully completed only in 1896. |

 外側の印象とはちがう豪華なイコン画。ソビエト時代、大聖堂はなんとか廃却は免れましたが、閉鎖もありませんでした。第2次大戦まで宗教と不信心の博物館として利用されました。大戦後は教会として再開し、それ以来教会として活動しています。
There are gorgeous icons which are different from the impression of the appearance. During the Soviet period, the cathedral narrowly escaped demolition, but not closure.  「チキンキエフ・コトレータ」。
鶏の胸肉かささみでバターを巻いて揚げたチキンカツ。ナイフを入れると溶けたバターが出てきてバターソースに。お肉もバターをすってジューシーになり、とてもおいしいです。
"Kotleta po-kyivsky: chicken Kiev"
It is a dish of chicken fillet pounded and rolled around cold butter, then coated with eggs and bread crumbs, and either fried or baked. When we cut it with a knife, butter flows out and becomes sauce. A chicken becomes juicy by butter. It's very nice dish.

We got into the site. It was also greatly damaged in the 16th century, when Poland and Ukraine were trying to unite catholic and orthodox churches. At this period the Cathedral was almost ruined. The repair works carried out in the 18th century and some buildings including the belfry were erected in the same time. |

 内部で唯一撮影できるところ。1980年代後期のソ連並びにその後のウクライナ政府は建物を正教会に戻すことを約束しましたが、教会内の派閥と分裂のため、総ての正教会とギリシャ正教会の要求に基づき教会へ戻すことは延期されました。
Here is the only place where we can take a photo in the cathedral. Since the late 1980s Soviet, and later Ukrainian, politicians promised to return the building to the Orthodox Church. Due to various schisms and factions within the Church the return was postponed as all Orthodox and the Greek-Catholic Churches lay claim to it. |

 で、写真を撮りました。どの宗教も大聖堂に未だに通常の宗教行事を行う権利を与えていません。大聖堂は現在、ほとんどの訪問者が観光客であるウクライナ・キリスト教の非宗教的博物館として残っています。
Therefore we took photos here. No religious body has yet been given the rights for regular services to the cathedral. The complex now remains a secular museum of Ukraine's Christianity, with most of its visitors being tourists. |

 最終日。午前中ホテルの周りを散策です。これは「貿易組合ビル」という大きなオフィス・ビルです。ビルは2014年2月18から19日の夜にかけて完全に焼け、一方20日には群集に向けた狙撃が発生しました。
The last day of the trip. We took a walk around the hotel in the morning. It's a large office building called "The Trade Unions Building". The building was completely burnt down at night on 18-19 February, while mass sniping fire took place on 20 February 2014. |
